Early morning fatal semitruck collision in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — The Tacoma Fire Department was on the scene of an early Tuesday morning collision involving a semitruck and a freeway barrier.

The collision occurred on Northbound Interstate 5 at the Portland Avenue exit, near the new Emerald Queen Casino.

Pictures from the scene show the cab entirely engulfed in flames.

The driver died at the scene.

The investigation will be handled by the Washington State Patrol.

All lanes were cleared just before 7:30 a.m.
