Armed robbery at drive-thru coffee shop in Parkland

PARKLAND, Wash. — A coffee shop in Parkland was the site of an armed robbery on Sunday, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 5:15 a.m., a Pierce County deputy responded to a call of an armed robbery at a drive-thru coffee shop in the 10000 block of Pacific Avenue South.

The employee told the deputy that a man ordered a drink and paid with what appeared to be a $100 bill.

When the employee refused to accept the money, the man got out of his car, pointed a gun at the employee and told her to open the register.

The employee gave the man $180 out of the register.

The incident is under investigation.
