SEATTLE — The Seattle Symphony has received a large donation from pop star Taylor Swift, and members expressed their gratitude online.
“That amazing moment when @TaylorSwift13 gives $50K to SSO, supporting musicians of today & tomorrow!” tweeted the symphony.
The symphony also posted a video on their Youtube page, thanking Taylor for her $50,000 donation. "We're so happy you love 'Become Ocean' as much as we do. And we'd like to thank you for supporting our incredible Seattle Symphony musicians and all the work we do with thousands of students through our educational programs."
According to the symphony, Taylor was inspired after listening to the orchestra’s 2014 recording of John Luther Adams’ ‘Become Ocean.’
She wrote a letter to Music Director Ludovic Morlot, expressing her appreciation -- and reminiscing about going to hear her local symphony with her grandmother.
