School bus crash snarls NB I-5 in Federal Way

No children were on board the bus and the driver was not hurt, but the driver of a BMW was seriously hurt.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A school bus crash on northbound Interstate 5 before South 272nd Street in Federal Way has snarled traffic.  No children were on the bus.

Department of Transportation video shows the bus resting on the slanted median.  The driver of a BMW involved in the crash was seriously hurt and had to be cut out of the vehicle.

The bus driver was not hurt, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Washington State Patrol said four vehicles and the bus were involved in the crash that was caused when a driver attempted to move from left lane to HOV lane and struck the bus.

By 9 a.m., only the right lane remained blocked but traffic was backed up for six miles.
