Russell Wilson, Joel McHale pull Boeing 737 for cancer fundraiser

SEATTLE — Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and comedian Joel McHale captained teams to pull a Boeing 737, to raise money and awareness to end childhood cancer.

The Alaska Airlines Plane Pull for Strong Against Cancer raised $24,000.

Teams of 18 led by Wilson and McHale competed to see who could physically pull a Boeing 737-800 for 25 feet in the shortest amount of time. Team Russell won.

They also competed to see which team could raise the most money for Strong Against Cancer.  A text message donation was set up for the event.

Wilson was named Alaska‘s honorary Chief Football Officer in 2013. In 2014, he became captain of Team Strong to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer research.

McHale, who was raised in Seattle, satirizes pop culture and current events each week on E!’s “The Soup.” He also performs his stand-up act around the country.

A Boeing 737-800, with seats, weighs about 92,000 pounds.

That’s approximately 29 Toyota Camrys weighing 3,190 pounds, 534 people with the average weight of 177 pounds or 308 linemen with the average weight of 305 pounds.
