Standoff at Everett motel ends; suspect not found

EVERETT, Wash. — SWAT officers surrounded an Everett motel where an armed robbery suspect was believed to be holed up inside.

Officers were called to reports of an armed robbery behind the Motel Express in the 2300 block of Broadway at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.  A woman told police she had been robbed by a man with a gun.

Witnesses told officers the suspect fled and was hiding in a room in the motel, according to Everett PD spokesman Aaron Snell.

When the man failed to answer police, eventually, officers entered the room at 9:45 a.m.  No one was inside.

Officers continue to search for the suspect.

The motel was evacuated and guests waited on an Everett Transit bus during the hours-long incident.

Everett High School and North Middle School were on lockdowns during the police activity.

The woman who says she was robbed was not hurt.
