Arrest in string of violent armed robberies caught on camera

SHORELINE, Wash. — After a monthlong search, one of three men wanted in a series of armed robberies over the last month was arrested, and the action was caught on camera as police moved in with guns drawn.

Shoreline police said eight of the attacks were in Shoreline and 10 others were in surrounding cities including Seattle and Mountlake Terrace.

In one case, police said, a Shoreline woman was robbed, kidnapped and sexually assaulted as she exited her car in a parking lot.

On Tuesday at 3 p.m., a King County Sheriff's Office detective spotted one of the men, Oreste Duanes-Gonzales, in a green minivan in Shoreline. Police moved in with guns drawn, and he was taken into custody.

A bystander captured the arrest on a cellphone camera and posted the video on YouTube.

Police said they nearly captured Duanes-Gonzales when they saw his van on Friday, but ended a high-speed chase when it became too dangerous.

Tukwila police arrested another man in the robberies two weeks ago.   A third man remains at large.

Duanes-Gonzales is being held on $200,000 bail for investigation of robbery and illegal entry.
