WSP seeks witnesses to shooting on SR 16 in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a shooting that happened on State Route 16 between Sprague and Union avenues in Tacoma on Thursday evening.

According to WSP, a silver Honda Accord was heading west on SR 16 between Sprague and Union avenues around 5:20 p.m. when the driver of a red Toyota Celica pulled alongside the Honda’s passenger side.

The driver of the Toyota allegedly fired one shot that hit the Honda’s right rear door. The Toyota was then seen continuing westbound on SR 16.

Witnesses described the driver of the Toyota as a white male in his mid 30s with short, dark hair, short facial hair, and freckles or acne. The Toyota is described as an early 2000s model with black aftermarket wheels, a tall fin spoiler, and aftermarket tail lights, possibly with black housing.
