WSP investigating fatal single-car crash on Whidbey Island

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. — An investigation is underway on Whidbey Island after a passenger was killed in a single-car rollover crash early Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened on State Route 20 at Northwest Madrona Way, south of Oak Harbor, just before 2 a.m.

According to the WSP, the car was heading southbound and hit a power pole, then rolled several times into a field.

The driver and one passenger were injured, and another 23-year-old passenger was killed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but WSP says drugs or alcohol may have been a factor.
