Woman killed in domestic violence shooting in Ravenna neighborhood

SEATTLE — A 42-year-old woman was killed Monday afternoon in a domestic violence shooting in the Ravenna neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 1:40 p.m. in the 7500 block of 25th Avenue NE. The call reported a man with a gun.

When officers arrived and went inside the house, they found the woman with a gunshot wound. Medics declared her dead at the scene.

Police began searching for person of interest in the shooting, who the victim had previously dated.

Shortly after, police got a call about a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a bench in the 2300 block of Arboretum Drive East in Montlake.

Police determined he was the person of interest. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Officials are continuing to investigate.
