WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — A woman and her dog were killed in a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver.
The crash happened on southbound Interstate 5 near Nulle Road in Whatcom County shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Troopers said the wrong-way driver, a 20-year-old woman, was heading northbound in the southbound lanes when she struck another car head-on.
The occupants of the other car, a 31-year-old woman and her dog, were killed in the crash.
The wrong-way driver was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and taken to a hospital.
Southbound I-5 was closed at the scene for four hours.
