MARYSVILLE, Wash. — A woman and her dog died in a fire Sunday morning in Marysville.
It happened at a home on 88th Street just before 9:30 a.m.
The Marysville Fire District says the woman’s husband called 911 after finding his wife unresponsive in a bedroom. He also reported heavy smoke and fire damage to the room.
Firefighters and EMS personnel arrived within five minutes of being dispatched. Crews entered the home and found the woman and her dog dead inside the bedroom.
Firefighters remained at the scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The husband was treated for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries.
“Marysville Fire District encourages residents to have working smoke alarms on every level of the home, including inside each bedroom and outside sleeping areas,” the department shared. “Test smoke alarms regularly and replace them according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Because smoke can spread quickly, early warning from a working smoke alarm can provide critical time to escape safely.”
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal.
