BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham police are looking for a person of interest after three women reported being assaulted by a man.
The assaults happened in the area of North Garden Street and on East Chestnut Street.
Police released photos from a surveillance camera in the downtown area on July 15, 2016 at 3:08 a.m. They were taken just prior to an attack which occurred in the area of E Holly St and N Garden Street.
Though it has not been determined that the man in the photos is the suspect, he is a person of interest that police would like to speak with.
The suspect was described as a white man, in his mid 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, with dark hair and a beard. He was wearing a beanie type cap, a brown shirt and pants.
Students at Western Washington University were alerted about one of the assaults. It was reported that a woman was assaulted by an armed man near the campus in Bellingham.
It happened at 1:56 a.m. Wednesday in the alley between North Garden and North Garden Terrace.
The woman, who is not a Western student, was walking in the alley when the man approached her from behind, held a knife to her throat and demanded oral sex. The woman refused, and the man fled on foot.

At 1 a.m. Wednesday at Chestnut and Ellis where a man on a bicycle with a similar description came upon a woman and man walking and slapped the woman on the rear end.
The man on the bike said he had a knife then rode toward downtown. Police are searching for the man.
