GRAHAM, Wash. — He said he was an Amazon delivery driver. She claims he was a peeping Tom.
A Graham woman says she got quite the fright when she saw a man leaning up against her bedroom window, late at night.
“This is where all of our packages come,” said Kathleen Hagen, as she took a KIRO 7 crew down the path to her front door. It’s wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and is lit at night.
But it is NOT where a couple of packages for her son were dropped off Thursday.
“I had gone to bed at 10 o’clock at night, and my dog started reacting to a noise outside of my window. When I looked up, there was an Amazon delivery man plastered against my window.”
Moments later, her son received a photo the driver took in front of Kathleen’s bedroom window, as proof he had delivered the package.
“You can clearly see my legs, my cat, and my pillows in the picture behind the package up against the glass of my window.”
Kathleen explained that the moment she saw him outside her window, she started yelling. “I was yelling for my adult son to come. There was a man outside of my window, she said. The driver answered, “He yelled, ’ It’s OK, I’m the Amazon delivery man. To which I said, no, it’s not.”
The driver’s second “proof of delivery video” appears to have been taken while he was running from Kathleen’s home.
Kathleen says she has complained to Amazon. Amazon uses third-party providers and independent contractors for its delivery drivers.
In a statement, Amazon spokesperson Louie Tran told KIRO 7, “We’re deeply troubled by this alleged incident and are working quickly to understand what happened, and we’ll take appropriate action as needed. We’ve also reached out to our customer to offer support.”
But the whole thing has Kathleen rattled. She says her family is pausing on making purchases for items that have to be shipped. “And I have asked the kids to stop the deliveries from coming.”
Kathleen says she’s also contacted the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating. She praised deputies for responding quickly, but no suspect has been identified.
