It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were hot and sunny. The next few days will feel like fall is on the way.
This evening will be partly cloudy except for some lingering rain around a weak Puget Sound Convergence Zone north of Seattle. The active rain showers will continue to fade this evening, and tomorrow looks rain-free. Overnight low temperatures around Puget Sound will drop to the 50s, and some cooler spots may flirt with an upper 40-degree reading in the morning.
Residual moisture from today’s rain will condense overnight, and there will likely be plenty of fog to track to start tomorrow. Burn-off will probably be slow, and in the afternoon, the high should reach 70 degrees. Most places should make it to that mark by late day, but a few areas may stay just below 70 depending on the amount of clouds that hang around.
A weak area of high pressure will move over western Washington on Monday with quiet weather to start next week. But the quiet weather won’t last too long as we track an area of low pressure on Tuesday and Wednesday. This weather system looks to be the first one we have seen in several weeks, bringing a good chance for measurable rain to all of western Washington. Computer models predict up to 2 inches of rain by late week in the Olympic Mountains and over an inch in parts of the Cascades. Seattle could see well over .50″ from Tuesday through Thursday next week.
High temperatures will respond to the rain and wind we are forecasting, and many areas will only be in the 60s on Wednesday. Windy weather is also likely as the mid-week storm moves in. Winds over 30 mph around Seattle and much stronger winds down the Strait of Juan de Fuca and along the coast are very likely.
If all holds up as forecast, we should see our first fall season storm by Wednesday.
Enjoy the quiet weather (albeit a bit cloudy with morning fog) on Sunday and Monday before the wet weather sets in.
