Summer is still hanging on, but we’re starting to lose daylight pretty quickly now. We’re nearly two months past the summer solstice, and we’ve lost more than two hours of daylight since then. You’ll really start to notice it in the mornings and especially in the evenings as we head toward September. We’re losing about 3 minutes of daylight per day!
The weather, though, is still looking pretty summery. We’re off to a calm and cool start with widespread low clouds and some patchy fog, especially north and south of Puget Sound. Sunshine will increase by mid to late morning, with mostly sunny skies this afternoon and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
We’ll see more widespread low clouds Tuesday and Wednesday, with a few areas of drizzle possible in the mornings. Both afternoons should clear out for sunshine, with highs in the upper 70s.
That same general pattern continues Thursday and Friday before we see some changes heading into the weekend. Saturday could bring a few showers or possibly a couple of thunderstorms, especially in the mountains, but the weekend overall doesn’t look very wet.
So, while the days are getting noticeably shorter, summer isn’t done with us yet. We’ve still got plenty of sunshine and warm afternoons ahead as we wind down August.
