The high-pressure building overhead kept skies clear overnight and compressed recent moisture from light rain into a foggy start to Thursday. As the high builds and slides overhead, the wind will shift to offshore. The easterly, offshore wind will speed the drying of the airmass and mix out for clear skies. A Dense Fog Advisory is in place all around Puget Sound until 9 a.m. Thursday.
This afternoon, high temperatures will be in the upper 60s to low 70s under sunny skies. Overnight, the east wind gusting through the Cascade gaps will help prevent fog formation Friday morning. Wind gusts in the foothills of the Cascades will be 20- 30 mph. High temperatures are going to get a boost from the east wind Friday, adding a few more degrees of warmth in the low to mid 70s.
Late Friday night, the next frontal system will glide overhead to produce rain Saturday morning. Rainfall will decrease behind the front, and showers will quickly end, except for the remaining convergence zone which will keep rain around the Snohomish and King County border in the early afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy with sunbreaks Saturday afternoon; high temperatures will be at least 10 degrees cooler. Some areas will become partly sunny mid-afternoon.
Sunday will be a dry day. In between weather systems, the day will be cool with highs in the 50s and partly to mostly sunny skies. Clouds increase late Sunday when a low-pressure system moves past our coast. The low is tracking over the Pacific towards Oregon. It will leave a trail filled with cooler air behind, and that cooler air will bring temperatures down for western Washington. It will feel like a chill in the air Monday under cloudy skies. A few showers are likely to develop for some of us. Monday may not be a wet day for all, however it will feel a lot cooler under mostly cloudy skies.
A brisk dry day develops for Tuesday and Wednesday with lows in the mid 30s to low 40s. Daytime highs in the upper 50s under partly to mostly sunny skies.
