- Thursday Afternoon: Dry and Partly Sunny
- Friday: Wind Advisory Issued for Coast and North Interior
- Saturday Night through Sunday Morning: Stronger Wind Expected
A transient trough of low pressure is swinging across western Washington this morning, keeping some rain showers around, especially for spots from Snohomish County to Whatcom County. The trough will exit around noon for a drier day under partly sunny skies. High temperatures today will be in the mid to upper 50s.
The next low-pressure system will spin past the northern point of Vancouver Island to create a breezy, gusty Friday morning for the Washington coast and northern interior. A Wind Advisory has been issued for these areas beginning at 4 a.m. Friday, except the north coast, where the Advisory begins at 1 a.m. From Lake Ozette and Quillayute, south winds will increase to 20-35 mph, with gusts building to 40-50 mph. Across the San Juan Islands, around Admiralty Inlet and impacting western Whatcom and Skagit Counties, wind gusts are expected to build up to 40 to 50 mph early Friday. The Wind Advisory expires at 4 p.m.
Rainfall will increase with this weather system late tonight through Friday morning at the coast. At first, much of the rain will be held at the coast and across the Salish Sea for northern counties. The frontal system stalls and continues to bring rainfall associated with a warm front across western Washington through Friday. Rain will be relatively light until the cold front advances later Saturday.
The jet stream is going to shove the warm front over us very early Saturday to end the rain around Puget Sound and warm temperatures up. It will be above normal by almost 10 degrees Saturday, with highs in the low 60s and cloudy skies. Stronger winds will increase for all areas Saturday night and last into early Sunday morning before easing.
