Two dead, 1 in custody after Mason County crash

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — Washington State Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Mason County on Saturday evening.

The crash happened on Northeast Belfair-Tahuya Road and Northeast View Ridge Driver, 3 miles west of Belfair.

Law enforcement was called to the scene at about 4:30 p.m.

Trooper Chelsea Hodgson said two people died and two others were seriously injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office said one person was taken into custody for investigation of vehicular homicide.

Officers shut down the road for some time but it was later reopened.

Investigators have not said what led up to the head-on crash.
