SEATTLE — The University of Washington is returning to in-person learning at the end of January after starting winter quarter online due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
A letter from President Ana Mari Cauce said that as the university predicted, COVID-19 cases locally are declining, allowing the school to proceed with the plan to return to in-person classes.

Cauce wrote that students should expect their classes to be in the original format listed in the time schedule unless told otherwise.
Students can make accommodations if they have health conditions or other needs that put them at a higher risk.
The school announced back in December that most classes would be held online for the first week of winter quarter. Remote instruction was extended due to case numbers from the omicron variant.
