Two men shot in South Seattle trying to help assaulted woman

SEATTLE — Two men were shot on Beacon Hill late Thursday after watching a man assault a woman and trying to intervene, according to Seattle police.

Just before 10 p.m., Seattle police responded to a call of a shooting in a parking lot in the 1600 block of South Columbian Way.

The two men had been near an encampment near Beacon Avenue South when a Honda Civic stopped on the street nearby.

One of the men saw the male driver of the Honda hitting a female passenger and approached the car to check on the woman.

Police said the driver reportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking both men.

The driver sped away while a relative of one of the men drove them to Harborview Medical Center.

Both men sustained life-threatening injuries.
