TACOMA, Wash. — A crash involving a military vehicle occurred on northbound I-5 in Tacoma Friday morning.

According to KIRO Newsradio traffic reporter Chris Sullivan, the crash was “pretty significant,” with heavy debris along the highway, causing a “pretty sizable backup.”

The crash happened near the Tacoma Mall. Two lanes are currently blocked on northbound I-5, as of this reporting.

“Looks like it was a military convoy from Fort Louis heading northbound on I-5 in Tacoma,” Sullivan shared. “At least eight different military rigs. A civilian car looks to have run into the back of one of them, causing a pretty significant crash.”

No injuries occurred in the crash. A Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper is on the scene.
