Crews fight brush fire along SB I-5 in North Seattle

A brush fire broke out Thursday night in Seattle's Northgate neighborhood, getting close to homes and closing multiple lanes on Interstate 5.

The fire was along southbound I-5, just south of 130th. The fire closed off two lanes of traffic.

Seattle fire officials said the fire jumped eight lanes of traffic and started small fire on the other side of the highway. The fire then jumped another roadway and started a third fire.

Seven engines were called in to help in the fight due to the limited water supply along I-5.

Crews got the fire under control just before 7 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

TRAFFIC ALERT: There is a major brush fire along southbound I-5, south of 130th. This is in the Northgate neighborhood.
