TRAFFIC: 5-mile backups on I-5 SB near Ship Canal Bridge after multi-vehicle crash

SEATTLE — Southbound I-5 just north of NE 45th Street on the Ship Canal Bridge was down to one lane during Wednesday’s morning commute after a multi-vehicle crash.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

Just before 7 a.m., WSDOT reported around 6 miles of traffic backups extending into Shoreline.

According to Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol, the crash is a semi / two car collision with no major injuries.

Trooper Johnson confirmed that tow trucks would be arriving shortly, and crews were working to get this cleared as quickly as possible.
