Thieves steal $2,000 worth of merchandise from West Seattle game shop

Two thieves broke into a West Seattle shop and stole an estimated $2,000 worth of Magic: the Gathering merchandise and Pokémon cards.

Employees at Meeples Games tell KIRO 7 the incident happened Thursday at roughly 5 a.m. Surveillance footage shows the suspects using a crowbar to break through the front door.

“We are a locally, family owned store. And the door alone is going to cost an arm and a leg to fix,” said employee Dani Kennedy. “We survived COVID and were just getting back on our feet.”

According to Kennedy, the California Avenue Southwest store is located on the second-floor. The two stairwells leading to it lock at night so it is not easy to reach. They believe someone had to shimmy up the balcony to access it. This leads staff to believe the culprits are familiar with the business.
