A 60-year-old Dallas man was killed Thursday in a climbing accident at Aasgard Pass, Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett said.
Aasgard Pass is approximately 15 miles southwest of Leavenworth.
Authorities said Robert Jake Colburn was descending from the pass when the accident happened.
Rivercom Dispatch received a 911 call from Colburn's son about 11 p.m., advising them that his dad had not returned to camp after climbing Aasgard Pass, authorities said.
Officials said Colburn was last seen around 3 p.m. Thursday descending Aasgard on his way back to camp.
Four Chelan County Mountain Rescuers were taken in a helicopter to the area where Colburn might be, and at around 1:30 p.m. Friday the man was found approximately at a 7,300-foot elevation level on Aasgard, officials said.
Colburn was pronounced dead at the scene.
The rescuers reported that Colburn appeared to have slipped and fallen several hundred feet, authorities said.
Officials said Colburn was hoisted from the scene and taken to the Leavenworth Fish Hatchery.
