The Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) says an 18-year-old died after falling into an irrigation canal.
It happened Sunday morning in the Mattawa area.
The GCSO says the teen was driving a vehicle in the area of Wahluke Slope Road Southwest and Road H Southwest. The vehicle became stuck in a concrete canal chute.
They say the teen and his passenger tried to push the vehicle free, but the teen fell into the water and was swept away. His body was recovered about a half-mile away.
18-year-old Johnny Sanchez Mendoza was pronounced dead at the scene.
