State fair in Puyallup holding job fairs this week to hire 5,000 people

PUYALLUP, Wash. — The Washington State Fair —formerly known as the Puyallup Fair — is holding two job fairs this week to prepare for the 20-day event in September.

Nearly 5,000 workers are needed for the state’s largest fair, which will run from Sept. 2 through 25. It will be closed Tuesdays and on Sept. 7.

The fair and its partners are hiring for a variety of positions from rides, food vendors, gate ambassadors, cleaning crews and others.

The job fair will be held in the Expo Hall at the Washington State Fairgrounds at 110 Ninth Avenue Southwest in Puyallup. Enter next to Gold Gate on Ninth and Meridian.

On Thursday, July 28, the job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, July 29, it will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Applicants for food and ride jobs must be at least 16 years old. Other fair positions require workers to be 18.

There is no need to make an appointment. Job seekers should bring two pieces of valid identification for interviews and immediate hiring.

The Washington State Fair is one of the biggest fairs in the world and the largest in the Pacific Northwest.
