UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men in their 20s, accused of racing each other in University Place – and reaching upwards of 107 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
A deputy saw the two cars speed past him on Bridgeport Way and tried to pull them over – but the drivers refused.
It happened on September 8 around 9:30 p.m.
After searching the area, the deputy found both unlicensed vehicles parked side-by-side in a parking lot.
The two 25-year-olds were arrested for reckless driving and street racing and booked into the Pierce County Jail.
The deputy submitted a search warrant on the cars and took a dash cam for evidence—which showed how fast the drivers were going.
Both vehicles were later impounded with a 72-hour hold.
“We love cool cars, but our county streets are not the place to race. The full-meal-deal will be given to all those who put our community in danger with street racing on public roadways,” the department said.
