Nathan Hale High School basketball coach Brandon Roy was injured in a shooting in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Authorities say former NBA player Brandon Roy was shot while attending a party in Southern California over the weekend. A source told KIRO 7 he was not the intended target.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Joseph Williams said Wednesday that Roy was one of four people shot in Compton on Saturday.

He said Roy, 32, and the three other victims were attending a party when two men walked up and opened fire without saying a word.

Williams said all four victims were shot in the upper body but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.

Roy was a shooting guard for the Portland Trail Blazers and won the NBA's Rookie of The Year award in 2007.

He now coaches the Nathan Hale High School men's team, which went 29-0 during the regular season, and Roy won the Naismith National High School Coach of the Year.

Roy played his college career at UW from 2002 to 2006, where he became the 31st player in school history to score 1,000 points. He was named a consensus first-team AP All-American.

In 2006, Roy entered the NBA draft and was selected in the first round (6th overall) by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was traded to Portland on draft night and played with the Trail Blazers until 2011. He finished his career with Minnesota from 2012-2013.

Over his professional career, Roy won the NBA Rookie of the Year award, he appeared in three NBA All Star games, was twice named to All-NBA teams, placing on the second team All-NBA in 2009 and third team in 2010.
