SEATTLE — Soundgarden will reunite to play halftime of the Seahawks’ season opener.

The band announced Tuesday that its surviving members will be joined by The Pretty Reckless lead singer Taylor Momsen and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready.

The two will fill the shoes of late band member Chris Cornell, who died by suicide in 2017.

The performance will take place on September 9 at Lumen Field, when the Seahawks take on the New England Patriots.

This won’t be Momsen and McCready’s first appearance with Soundgarden. The two took the stage last year when the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Soundgarden was formed in 1984 and was a large part of Seattle’s grunge movement. Cornell named the band after a pipe sculpture on NOAA property in the Sand Point area of Seattle.
