EVERETT, Wash. — Crews are on the scene of a small plane crash at Paine Field Airport in Everett.
It’s unclear when the crash happened, but the airport wrote on Facebook that people should avoid the area.
Injuries were confirmed, though it’s unclear how many people were hurt.
The plane crashed on the west side of the airport, near Perimeter Road SW, in a heavily wooded area on airport property.
A black plume of smoke was visible on one of the airport’s live cameras around 2:53 p.m.
Crews worked to get the flames out and are on the ground searching for occupants.
The runway was initially closed as crews investigated the incident. According to Kristin Banfield, the public information officer for Paine Field, the incident did not involve the runway, and it was reopened once it was cleared.
This is a developing story.
KIRO has a crew on scene.
