SHORELINE, Wash. — Students in Shoreline are heading back to class this week after the district and its staff reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
“The parties are proud to have worked together to reach an agreement that supports students, employees, and families,” Shoreline Education Support Professionals Association and Shoreline Public Schools shared in a joint statement.
The two came to the tentative agreement on Friday – averting a strike that was planned for today.
Negotiations have been ongoing since April.
The union represents more than 300 district employees, including paraeducators, nurses, health assistants, secretarial and technical staff, crossing guards and security staff.
Shoreline Education Support Professionals Association said it wanted higher pay to bring its members in line with neighboring districts.
Union members will meet Wednesday to weigh in on final approval.
