October 4, 2018 Update: Shake Shack announced this week that the opening of its Seattle location is delayed and will not be opening on Saturday.

Shake Shack announced on Twitter that "due to some last-minute adjustments, our South Lake Union Shack won't be opening on 10/6 as planned."

A new date has not been announced.

Our previous coverage:

The wait is almost over. Shake Shack, a popular burger joint, will open its doors at its first Washington state location next week.

More than a year ago, the burger chain announced it would open a location in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood.

On Thursday, Shake Shack announced it would open Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. It's located at 2115 Westlake Avenue. The first 100 people in line, when doors open, will receive a custom Shake Shack Seattle T-Shirt.

Shake Shack is known for its all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries and more.

The Seattle location's menu will also feature the Montlake Double Cut, a Seattle-exclusive burger made from a selection of local ingredients. The Montlake Double Cut features a Washington state all-natural beef double cheeseburger with Beecher's ‘Just Jack’ cheese, caramelized onions and grainy mustard mayo on a Macrina Bakery bun. The specialty burger will be available daily in limited quantities.

The 3,015-square foot Shack will feature an outdoor patio, ample seating for guests and an installation by local artist Jesse Brown.

The first location opened in 2004 in New York City. It has expanded to more than 180 locations in the country and more than 70 international locations.
