Officials provide updates on several wildfires burning across eastern Washington

Several wildfires continue to burn across eastern Washington.

More than 1,800 acres have burned in the Williams Lake Fire, which is happening south of Cheney.

It’s 65% contained as of Monday afternoon, up from 50% Monday morning.

A three-person crew from Gig Harbor is also assisting in the fight against the wildfire south of Spokane at Williams Lake.

These firefighters are helping with structural protection, line construction and mop-up work.

Roughly 300 personnel in total are working on that fire.

The Riparia Fire, which is about 50 miles southwest of Pullman, is now completely contained.

It burned over 5,000 acres after sparking Thursday, according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center.

Fire officials do not yet know the cause of this fire.

Closer to home, the Vantage Highway Fire has burned more than 30,000 acres along the Columbia River.

The fire has destroyed four structures, including one residence, and about 20 more are under threat.

It is about 75% contained as of Monday afternoon and more than 200 firefighters are working on getting it further under control.
