Washington Sen. Patty Murray cast her 10,000th vote on the floor of the Senate Thursday, the first woman in history to do so.
I just cast my 10,000th vote on the Senate floor—the first woman in history to reach this milestone, but certainly not the last!

During every single one of these votes, I'm thinking first and foremost of how I can make life better for the people of WA state.
According to U.S. Senate records, only 32 others, all men, have achieved that milestone.
The only other Washington Senator, Scoop Jackson (D), cast 10,063 votes during his tenure from 1953 to 1983.
The most votes ever cast was by Sen. Robert Byrd (D) of West Virginia, who cast 18,689 votes between 1959 and 2010.
The only two current active Senators that are over the 10,000 vote threshold are Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) of Iowa (14,491 votes) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R) of Kentucky (12,790 votes),
According to Axios, Murray’s 10,000 vote was over an amendment to a bill that would reauthorize appropriations for the U.S. Fire Administration, grant programs for firefighting equipment, and for hiring firefighters and first responders.
