SEATTLE — A collision involving a semitruck on southbound Interstate 5, just north of Stewart Street, forced the closure of the express lanes Sunday morning in Seattle.
The driver was able to escape but was taken to hospital with minor injuries, Seattle firefighters said.
Explosions were also heard as the fire continued to engulf the semi.
Crews were able to knock down the fire but continued to put out hot spots.
After a few hours, road crews cleared the scene, removing the charred truck.
It is not yet known what led to the crash and the fire, but the investigation remains ongoing.
