In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Sedro-Woolley Police Department asked for witnesses to a 3-car collision on HWY 20 between Metcalf St and Murdock St. on Saturday evening.
According to the department, when officers and emergency responders arrived at the scene, it was clear one person was injured.
The department also said it believed the crash occurred when the at-fault driver attempted to pass other cars illegally and then struck two cars.
The driver at fault showed signs of impairment at the scene and was detained for a DUI. Further investigation revealed the person had stolen the vehicle before causing the crash and that they had a criminal history in Florida, Tennessee, and Missouri.
Officers got a warrant to get blood evidence from the suspect, who was not booked into jail because of his injuries.
