TACOMA, Wash. — Police are investigating after a person was robbed at a gas station and a security guard was hit by gunfire in Tacoma on Saturday night.
According to Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Wendy Haddow, at about 6:58 p.m. a person was robbed at gunpoint in front of the Pilot Express, located at 1440 Puyallup Avenue.
The security guard on duty witnessed the robbery and then followed the suspect vehicle to the area of East 26th Street and Portland Avenue.
The suspects then fired shots at the guard, which went through his vehicle. Bullets hit the guard who was wearing a bulletproof vest, police said.
Police said the guard refused aid and did not require any medical attention.
The shooters fled the scene.
No information has been made available regarding the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing.
