Seattle Seahawks’ Chad Wheeler arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

Seattle Seahawks player Chad Wheeler was arrested Saturday morning and booked into the King County jail on suspicion of domestic violence.

His girlfriend accused him of assaulting her at a residence in Kent.

Court records show Wheeler was booked into the King County Correctional Facility at 1:19 a.m. Saturday. He appeared in King County District Court on Monday, where his bail was set at $400,000.

Kent police officers were dispatched to the residence after being contacted by a friend of the victim, who had texted saying she was locked in the bathroom after a physical fight with her boyfriend, documents say.

When officers arrived, they heard screaming from inside the apartment. After forcing their way inside, they heard more screaming coming from the bathroom, court documents say. Officers found the victim and Wheeler locked in the bathroom.

The victim’s face was covered in blood and her left arm was limp against her body, according to a police report.

The officer also noted she had “noticeable fingerprints on both sides of her neck as well as capillaries that had burst at the back of her throat.”

She was taken to Valley Medical Center.

The report said that Wheeler had been on medication for bipolar disorder, but had not been taken his medication recently.

The victim told police that the incident began when Wheeler told her to “stand up and bow to him,” and when she refused, he grabbed her by the neck and threw her on the bed, the report says.

Wheeler is 6 feet 7 inches and 310 pounds. The victim is 5 feet 9 inches and 145 pounds, documents say.

Wheeler was signed by the Seahawks in October 2019 after being waived by the Giants. He appeared in five games last season and is currently a restricted free agent.

He is currently out on bond.
