SEATTLE — The Seattle Public School Traffic Safety Committee is looking for crossing guards as the first day of school is fast approaching.
Crossing guards ensure the safety of students by helping them cross busy streets near their schools, according to the job description.
There are 30 paid crossing guard positions currently open, with a flexible schedule of an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Schedules can also be arranged to work only the morning or only the afternoon.
The committee said the crossing guards are scheduled around the school calendar, so they don’t work holidays, breaks, snow days or summers.
There’s a paid training period prior to the first day on the job and all gear is provided, including a safety vest, jacket and a flag.

The first day of classes for Seattle Public Schools is Wednesday, Sept. 4.
