SEATTLE — Detectives are investigating a deadly scooter crash in North Seattle overnight.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), 911 received a call at around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday from a bus driver who had found an injured man in the middle of the intersection at 24th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 85th Street, near Golden Gardens Park.

Despite lifesaving efforts from Seattle Fire Department medics, the 37-year-old man died at the scene.

During the investigation, police determined that the man was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by the driver of a minivan driving westbound on Northwest 85th Street.

Police say the 16-year-old driver returned to the scene and cooperated with investigators. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and found no signs of impairment.
