Seattle Police Department presents first-quarter findings to City Council

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department presented its first-quarter findings to the City Council on Tuesday. They covered everything from staffing to response times to spending.

Staffing is down but fewer people are leaving the agency. Yet, the agency is still not hiring enough people.

Spending is on track but overtime is way up to cover priority calls with minimum staffing levels.

When it comes to response times some precincts are up and others are down. The North precinct saw increases in response times across all priority levels and had the highest response times out of the five precincts, according to SPD. The Southwest and West precincts both saw decreases in response times across all priority level calls.

However, based on the data it is hard to draw overarching trends.
