Seattle Men’s Chorus prepares for one-of-a-kind Disney themed Pride Month show

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Men’s Chorus is preparing for a one-of-a-kind Disney themed Pride Month show.

‘Disney PRIDE in concert’ will have over 40 songs from classic Disney movies like ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘The Lion King’, and ‘Mary Poppins.’ It will also have songs from more recent films like ‘Coco’, ‘Zootopia’, and ‘Wreck-It Ralph.’

“You don’t have to be a Disney fan to find something to love. No matter your age, background, or sexual orientation, the selection of songs will touch your heart,” said the company.

The Seattle Men’s Chorus has been performing for 50 years as one of the first gay choruses in the country. It will be the company’s first full-length choral concert and one of the first pieces of work specifically for the LGBTQ+ community

“Our art is reflecting the policies and feelings of our people, this is a very open loving, and accepting community, and what Seattle Men’s Choir is, is we tell our stories through music, and we’ll be doing it through the magic of Disney songs,” said Craig Coogan, Interim Director of Seattle Men’s and Women’s Chorus.

The shows will be performed live on June 9 and 10 in at the Paramount Theater in Seattle.

“Disney concerts offer a new world of wonder and possibility for those who have felt unworthy, struggled with self-acceptance, or wondered about their purpose in life. The magic of these events cannot be overstated,” said the company.
