Some major changes are coming for the Seattle Mariners.
The team’s President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto and General Manager Justin Hollander announced Monday that Bench Coach Manny Acta, Infield Coach Perry Hill, Hitting Coach Kevin Seitzer, and First Base Coach Eric Young Jr. will not return to the coaching staff in 2027.
“I will always have the utmost respect and appreciation for these men, each of whom made meaningful contributions to our team,” Dipoto said. “After much reflection, we have determined that significant changes are required as we look toward 2027 and beyond.”
Acta spent 11 seasons on the Mariners Major League staff. He served as the Third Base Coach from 2016-17 and 2020-24, and as Bench Coach from 2018-19 and 2025-26.
Hill spent eight seasons on the Mariners Major League staff. He served as the First Base/Infield Coach from 2019-21, before transitioning to Infield Coach from 2022-26.
Seitzer spent two seasons, 2025-26, on the Mariners staff as Hitting Coach.
Young Jr. spent two seasons, 2025-26, on the Mariners ' big-league staff as First Base Coach after serving as Baserunning Coordinator in the organization during 2024.
The news comes one day after Dan Wilson told the team he was not returning as their manager for next season. Wilson, who served as the Mariners’ catcher from 1994 to 2005, stepped in for manager Scott Servais back in 2024, after Servais was fired.
Wilson made the announcement shortly after the Mariners finished off a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels, the end of a disappointing 76-86 season.
