Seattle City University and police launch 12th annual crime survey

SPD

SEATTLE, Wash. — For the 12th year in a row, Seattle City University, in collaboration with the Seattle Police Department, is asking the public for feedback on crime and safety in Seattle.

In a press release, the SPD said the survey data is a “central component” of the department’s policing plans for each community.

The survey is available in Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, English, Korean, Oromo, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tigrinya, and Vietnamese.

Led by Dr. Jacqueline Helfgott, director of the Seattle University Crime and Justice Research Center, and in collaboration with a team of Seattle University graduate and undergraduate student research analysts, the survey results will be analyzed to identify top crime concerns and perceptions of public safety-related quality of life at citywide, precinct, and neighborhood levels.

The SPD will receive the survey results ahead of community-police dialogues scheduled for March-August 2027.
