SEATTLE, Wash. — Former Seahawks running back Dr. Dan Doornink passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, Seahawks.com reports.

Doornink, who grew up near Yakima and played for Washington State, served as the Seahawks’ running back for seven seasons back in 1979.

Doornink helped the Seahawks reach their first ever playoff game in 1983 and played a crucial role in the team’s big win over the Los Angeles Raiders in the 1984 Wild Card Game.

After playing for the Seahawks, Doornink began practicing internal medicine, and spent three decades helping residents back in Yakima, according to the Union-Bulletin.
