BURIEN, Wash. — The family of murdered soldier Sgt.Timothy Hovey is offering at $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of his killer.
Hovey, 27, was shot after he walked away from a party in Burien on Sep. 4, 2016. Investigators say he was shot multiple times near South 128th Street and 21st Avenue South in Burien.
He was found by friends and rushed to Highline Hospital. He later died at Harborview Medical Center.
The Major Crimes detectives from the King County Sheriff's Office are investigating and have run out of leads.
"He's stationed at JBLM and he's set to be shipped out to Iraq in a month and he gets gunned down on the streets of Burien, it's just a tragedy,” said King County Sheriff John Urquhart.
Hovey is from Sacramento.
"All we know is our son was viciously murdered, prior to being deployed to Iraq to protect this country," said his father, Jeff Pimsner.
He said the family is not able to fully grieve because they don't know what happened Hovey.
He said Hovey said his son was a leader, not a follower. Now he hopes someone else will be a leader and tell detectives what happened September 4th when Hovey was killed.
Crimestoppers added a $1,000 reward, the total reward is $11,000.
