Crews will be getting an early start to their ongoing “Revive I-5″ work on Interstate 5 in Seattle this weekend, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.
Starting Thursday at 7:30 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Friday, several lanes of southbound I-5 between I-90 and the West Seattle Bridge will be closed.
Both the westbound and eastbound I-90 off-ramps to southbound I-5 will be closed during this time as well.
The closures are so crews can do preliminary saw cutting before the weekend’s work, where they’ll continue to replace expansion joints along the interstate.
Starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m., several lanes will be closed on southbound I-5 from I-90 to Spokane Street.
Crews will be replacing expansion joints on the right side of southbound I-5 near where the collector/distributor rejoins mainline I-5, according to WSDOT.
The Spring and James streets on-ramps will only be able to use the collector/distributor exits, and people using those ramps will not be able to get onto southbound I-5.
Revive I-5 is expected to take place every nearly weekend throughout the summer.
