Repeat offender remains at large after robbery in Seattle, prosecutors say

SEATTLE — A 32-year-old Puyallup man was charged King County Superior Court with second-degree robbery.

The robbery is alleged to have happened around 2:30 p.m. on July 18 at a Rite Aid store located in the 2000 block of Rainier Avenue South.

In charging documents, prosecutors said Kristopher Glenn Brown hit a security guard multiple times with a water bottle when he was confronted for stealing beer from the store.

"Store employees are familiar with (Brown) and have seen him at multiple locations. He is known to shoplift and when confronted, starts yelling, steals and more items, and runs," prosecutors said.

According to charging documents, the guard suffered a gash above his right eye and Brown left the store with the beer.

In a probable cause document, police said surveillance video revealed that Brown was the suspect.

According to court documents, Brown has not been arrested and remains at large.

His criminal history includes convictions for assault, harassment and resisting arrest, among others, court records show.

Prosecutors said Brown has pending cases for assault and vehicle prowling and is on bench warrant status for an assault with sexual motivation in March.

In charging documents, prosecutors said they have "serious community safety concerns regarding this Defendant's ability to be law-abiding and to refrain from threatening, harassing, or assaultive behavior while in the community."

Court records show Brown was released from custody 10 days before the alleged robbery.
